Fadnavis to pitch for ‘Make In Maharashtra’ in China

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will make a strong pitch for the ‘Make In Maharashtra’ campaign c05f3517553aeab1e577436b387031deduring his visit to China starting May 14, an official said here on Wednesday.

Fadnavis will be a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s entourage to China and will take part in the State/Provincial Leaders Forum meeting in Beijing on Friday.

The forum will have a discussion on ‘Sustainable Urbanisation: Smart City, Smart Living’ and the role of states in strengthening relations and development partnership between the two Asian giants, in which Fadnavis will participate.

He is expected to sign some major agreements with Chinese companies during the visit, the official said.

Fadnavis is scheduled to meet Terry Gou, chairman of Foxconn Technology Group, the world’s largest electronics contractor manufacturer and Chinese automobiles major Beiqi Foton Chairman and CEO Jin Yu Wang, which is planning to set up a manufacturing unit in Maharashtra.

He will travel and meet officials and industrialists in cities like Beijing, Hangzhou, Chengdu seeking investments for his state.

In Dongguan, Fadnavis will sign a ‘sister-city agreement’ for Aurangabad, the tourist centre in Maharashtra famous for Ajanta-Ellora cave temples.

During his five-day Chinese sojourn, the chief minister will meet top officials of Haier, Yapp, CGGC, Taiyuan Heavy Industry, Great Wall Motors and others to offer investment opportunities in Maharashtra.

Last month, Fadnavis visited Germany and Israel to woo businessmen and offer benefits of ‘Make In Maharashtra’.
