Diabetes Risk Awareness Talk organised by Lions Club of Sydney Indian

photo 1Lions Club of Sydney Indian and the Technocrats Association of Australia organised Diabetes Risk Awareness Talk by Dr.Roza Sage from Diabetes NSW on, 17th February, 2016 at Lions Den, 42 Ross Street, North Parramatta. Dr Sundar and Dr Reni Sundar from Medical organisation conducted the free testing of blood sugar levels.

The MC for the evening was Ms Anne Kalra – one of the board members of the Lions Club of Sydney Indian as well as their Public Relations officer. Ms Kalra started the evening by acknowledgement to the traditional owners of the land and invited The President of the Lions Club of Sydney Indian, Dr Rohitas Batta welcomed Dr Roza Sage and all the distinguished guests and Lions club members. The senior Lions in attendance included PDG Nigel Jeny OAM LCIF Trustee; PDG Steven Coleman, Zone Chairman; Mr Graham Utley (Baulkham Hills), Mr Jon Copson -President Parramatta Lions;  Miss Jane Li; Guiding Lion- Mr Thillai Nadesan. Dr Batta also humbly thanked all the sponsors of this event: Technocrats Association of Australia; Australian Hearing; Tender Loving Cuisine; UAE Exchange; Embroid Me; International Institute of Professional Development (IIPD); and Kradle to Krayons. Dr Batta announced that Part of net proceeds from sponsorship amounts would go to charities.

photo(1)This was a free community event that attracted over 50 people. Dr Roza Sage’s presentation was highly focused and at the same time very easy to understand that also sent the message of what important health issue was diabetes for the community, particularly for those from the Asian and Indian sub-continent origin. The talk stimulated a very interactive Question and Answer session.

The evening commenced with networking and drinks from 6.30-7pm and was followed by one hour of presentation on Diabetes Risk management. The evening was closed by a vote of thanks by Mr Prakash Rao, President of the Technocrats Association of Australia.
