The NSW Government is continuing to deliver the critical infrastructure and services the people of Western Sydney need and deserve, through a massive investment for the region in the NSW 2016-17 Budget.

“The NSW economy is leading the nation and a large part of this success is due to Western Sydney,” said NSW Premier and Minister for Western Sydney Mike Baird.

“More and more people are choosing to live and work in Western Sydney and this year’s Budget further demonstrates our commitment to supporting this growth by investing in this region.”

Highlights for Western Sydney in this year’s Budget include:

• $6.2 billion towards Sydney Metro City & Southwest and $5.8 billion for Sydney Metro Northwest over the next four years.
• More than $64 million for the planning and preparatory works of the Parramatta Light Rail project.
• Continuing to spend $25 million over four years to deliver four brand new ferries purposely designed for Parramatta River – providing extra services for customers.
• $87 million to start work on upgrading the Northern Road between Peter Brock Drive at Oran Park and Mersey Road at Bringelly (State and Federal funded).
• $64.5 million to continue construction work on the first stage of the Bringelly Road upgrade between Camden Valley Way at Leppington and King Street at Rossmore (State and Federal funded).
• $45 million to start upgrading the Northern Road between Glenmore Parkway at Glenmore Park and Jamison Road at South Penrith (State and Federal funded).
• $22.5 million to start construction of the shared pedestrian and cyclist bridge over the Nepean River between Penrith and Emu Plains.
• $60.5 million to continue the Westmead Hospital Redevelopment Stage 1 (A and B).
• $58.1 million to continue construction of the Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals Stage 1 and 2 Redevelopments at an estimated total cost of $659.2 million.
• $38.8 million to continue the Westmead Hospital Car Park at an estimated total cost of $72.4 million.
• Funding for construction of three new schools at Parramatta.
• Funding for design and construction of a new high tech Agricultural STEM and Boarding High School in partnership with Western Sydney University – Hawkesbury Campus.
• Funding to address priority backlog maintenance needs in Western Sydney schools.
• $22 million by the Western Sydney Parklands Trust towards the creation, upgrade and improvement of new parks and business hubs at Horsley Drive and Eastern Creek.
