Australia’s Biggest Ever India Festival Launches at Sydney’s Maritime Museum

Confluence Festival of India in Australia is the most significant showcase of Indian arts and culture ever to be staged in Australia, taking place in seven cities across the country between August and November 2016. The festival’s national media launch is on Tuesday, July 26, at the Maritime Museum in Sydney. All media are invited to attend.

The festival program includes world-class dance, theatre and music as well as conferences and workshops on Indian innovation, politics and sport. Events are scheduled in Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. One of the festival’s key components is fostering bilateral ties, with joint performances and collaborations between Indian and Australian artists and thinkers.

The national media launch event in Sydney will be led by His Excellency Mr. Navdeep Suri, the High Commissioner of India in Australia. The Maritime Museum CEO and Director, Kevin Sumption, will also be present. The iconic venue nods to India and Australia’s rich history of trade and cultural exchange, much of which has been transferred by sea.
