AUSTRALIAN ULTRA-MARATHON RUNNER PAT FARMER REACHES MUMBAI ON HIS RUN THROUGH INDIA

Australian ultra-marathon legend Pat Farmer will reach Mumbai on Wednesday 17 February 2016, marking more than 1750km of his 4600km run through India.

This will be followed by a special function and dinner hosted by Incredible India and the Ministry of Tourism.  Special guests will also include Bollywood celebrities and representatives from the Spirit of India Run’s sponsors such as Adani, Mahindra, Air India and the Ministry of Tourism.

Pat Farmer started his Spirit of India Run on 26 January and is now 23 days into his journey from the southern tip of India in Kanyakumari to the northern tip in Srinagar, Kashmir.

The athlete and former federal minister has just under 3000km to go and is expected to reach the finish line in less than 40 days from now.

Pat is running the length of India to grow and nurture relations between Australia and India and to inspire people in communities across India. He is also running to raise funds for Mahindra’s Nanhi Kali foundation to support the education of disadvantaged girls in India.

A film crew led by Australian-Indian director Anupam Sharma, who recently headed the successful feature film UNindian featuring cricketer Brett Lee, has been following Pat’s epic run. He will turn his journey into an Australian film meant to showcase the spirit of humanity and the limits of human endurance.

On Thursday 18 February, Pat Farmer will continue his run northwards, travelling through Mumbai on Tardeo Road.
