AUSTRALIAN ULTRA-MARATHON RUNNER PAT FARMER DUE TO REACH DELHI SUNDAY 13 MARCH

Australian ultra-marathon legend Pat Farmer will enter the last leg of his epic run through India todaywhen he runs through the historic India Gate in Delhi.

Mr Farmer is expected to reach India Gate in Delhi approx. 12 noon India time / 5:30pm AEDT and will be greeted by members from the Australian High Commission and the Indian government.

His arrival in Delhi today will mark more than 3400km completed of the total 4600km of the Spirit of India Run.

With less than three weeks remaining on his journey, Mr Farmer said India Gate has been one of the moments he’s looked forward to since this journey was conceived.

“There are three pinnacles to this journey since I started in Kanyakumari,” Mr Farmer said.

“The absolute pinnacle will of course be reaching my final destination in Srinagar, in Kashmir.

“The other I’ve been looking forward to for such a long time is running in to the nation’s capital and running through India Gate, one of the most historical and iconic structures in the nation.

“The third is coming back to India Gate for the grand finale after I complete the run at the end of March.”

The Spirit of India Run’s purpose is to firstly cement relations between Australia and India, inspire and connect with citizens of India and raise money for girls’ education through the Nanhi Kali foundation.
