A Spectacular Festive Treat at Blacktown Diwali Mela

Humongous crowd of more than 15000 turned up to celebrate the biggest and brightest festival of India at Blacktown Showground on 18th October, 2015.  Organized by Star Event Productions, this all day long Diwali Mela won the hearts of young and old alike.

sydneyThe Weather God had been very kind to maintain the perfect climate for this outdoor family fun day. People from diverse communities attended the festival of high cultural significance. Food and merchandise stalls are essential ingredients of any big fair. Diwali mela had 110 stalls offering multicultural food, clothing, jewellery, Henna tattoos, cosmetics and much more. A never ending queue could be seen at Indian sweets stalls especially hot Jalebees. AFL and Cricket NSW provided opportunity to ‘try your skills at sports’. Children had numerous fun rides to enjoy all day including pony rides.

Artists from Sydney and interstate kept the audience entertained with their outstanding performances of singing, dancing and choreography. MC’s did their best to interact with the audience and kept the smooth flow of cultural program. Various dignitaries, community and business leaders and media representatives embellished the event with their presence.

The platinum sponsor was Kashi Indian Restaurant who also gave away ten ‘dinner for two’ vouchers to the audiences. Gaura Travels was the official travel partner of the event.

There were lots of lucky draw prizes for audience including Hoyts movie tickets, Woolworths gift cards, various restaurant vouchers, concert tickets, beauty products and even a Limousine ride. The biggest one of course was a return ticket to India sponsored by Air India.

The mela reached its climax with spectacular fireworks. It was amazing to witness thousands of people watching the sky lit up with colorful fireworks, signifying the victory of light over darkness, the true implication of the festival.

This was the fifth successful event in a row, of Star Events Productions this year. The team started the year with Holi Mela Blacktown followed by Curry Festival Castle Hill, Mela Melna da and Arif Lohar concert. The team has lined up many more events in the coming months.
