04At least 35 people were killed and over 50 wounded as Iraq witnessed unabated incidents of violence Thursday.

Eleven people were killed and 35 injured in a deadly bombing attack in Baghdad in the evening, police said, hours after it said 24 people died and 16 wounded in separate violent attacks in different parts of the country, Xinhua reported.

The attack in the evening occurred when a booby-trapped motorcycle exploded in a popular market in Baghdad’s Sadr City, a police source said while requesting anonymity.

No militant group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, a total of 8,868 Iraqis, including 7,818 civilians and civilian police personnel, were killed in 2013, the highest annual toll in years.
