2014-15 Heritage grants program open

0Private owners of State heritage places can now apply for heritage grants of up to $100,000 to assist with the cost of urgent conservation work to their properties.

Heritage Minister Albert Jacob said a total of $1.265million was available through the Heritage Council’s 2014-15 Heritage Grants Program.

“Applications are open and I encourage private owners to apply. The State Government values the contribution private owners make to conserving State Registered places and is committed to providing support to promote the long-term viability of our State’s heritage,” Mr Jacob said.

“The Heritage Grants Program is highly successful and assists owners meet the extra costs associated with their heritage status properties.

“Heritage grants are available to assist with urgent conservation works or to develop Conservation Management Plans to identify and prioritise future works. Owners are required to contribute at least 50 per cent of the total project value.”

Mr Jacob said more than 500 private owners of State Registered heritage places were eligible to apply for individual grants.

“The Liberal National Government increased the Heritage Grants Program by 25 per cent in 2012, and committed an additional $1.046million over four years. This was the first increase in the program since its inception in 1997.”
